Submission Criteria

• Story must be unpublished, worldwide
  
• Author must be 18 years old or older
  
• Story must be a fully edited manuscript, ready for publishing when submitted
  
• Person submitting manuscript must be the author
  
• Short story length must be between 7,800 and 9,300 words
  
• Use the short story format outlined below
  
• Include a brief summary description of your story, 100 words maximum
  
• More than one short story can be submitted but must be submitted separately
  
• Your manuscript will be reviewed and an email reply sent in 4 to 6 weeks with a decision regarding your manuscript submission
  
• Please verify that your contact information is accurate when your submission form is completed
  

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

     Be sure your story:

• Has a good opening        
• Is well paced
• Works when read aloud—can experience the scene
• Has interesting characters
• Is believable 
• Has a satisfying ending

SHORT STORY FORMAT

1. Manuscript typed on 8 1/2” by 11” paper
   
2. Margins: 1 inch from paper edges
   
3. Pitch: 12-point
   
4. Font: Times New Roman, Courier, Courier New, or Arial
   
5. Double-spaced
   
6. Indented paragraphs
   
7. Number pages in the upper right-hand corner
   
8. Include the title, name, word count on first page of the manuscript
   
9. Spell check and proofread your manuscript
